About Dr. Jose L. Cortes
Based in Midtown East, NYC, Dr. Jose L. Cortes has treated many residents of New York City’s surrounding neighborhoods. A respected chiropractor in the Midtown Manhattan area, Dr. Cortes is highly trained in Gonstead Technique and offers a wide array of services to help his patients.
Dr. Cortes was inspired to become a chiropractor after being successfully treated by one for a serious sports injury. A nationally ranked bodybuilder at the time, he sustained an injury during training that sent pains down his legs anytime he moved his lower back. A local chiropractor was able to stop these pains, help him recover from this injury using natural practices, and Dr. Cortes wanted to be able to do the same for others.
Dr. Cortes enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program at Life University in Atlanta, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While at Life University, Dr. Cortes specializes in the Gonstead Technique, becoming a leading instructor of the school’s Gonstead Club and founding its Gonstead Mentorship Program. Today, Dr. Cortes holds a Gonstead Student Certification and is one of 59 Gonstead Diplomates. With 15 years in practice, Dr. Cortes is working toward his Gonstead Fellowship.
After completing his doctoral degree, Dr. Cortes has continued to advance his knowledge through specialized certificate programs. He holds an Advanced Extremity Certification from the IBEC, which allows him to evaluate and treat conditions of the extremities. He is also pursuing certifications in Chiropractic BioPhysics and Wellness.
All of his training allows Dr. Cortes to provide his patients with many different treatment options. Some of the treatments he provides that help patients overcome specific health issues include the following:
Additionally, many patients who don’t have specific pains come to Dr. Cortes for general chiropractic care. This type of care can significantly help people’s overall health.
When not treating patients, Dr. Cortes enjoys spending time with his family, working on his Jeep, and cheering on the New York Yankees as they chase another pennant.
Dr. Cortes wants all of his patients to remember: “Optimal spine, optimal health.”
